tv dinners...

are a staple at the kim house.

not the tv dinners that you are thinking of, but whenever my parents sit down to dinner, the korean channel is on, you can count on it. they work everyday of the year at our stores and so this is their down time. and they choose to share it with KTAN. =] So for as long as i can remember, dinner time has always been my mum, dad, oppa, and the korean channel on tv.

i lucked out in the parent department. my parents are pretty awesome. there are times when they annoy me/i annoy them or we fight or whatever, but at the end of they day, i think i'm a pretty lucky girl. my oppa and i are really grateful for our parents. Thank God for them.

I was sitting in the living room after another tv dinner when i hear random bursts of laughing coming from the dinner table. i look over and i see my mum and dad eating dinner, talking, and laughing. it's the laughing that gets me. i hope that if i get married, i have a full-of-laughs dinner once in a while. =]

my parents have been married for 26 years and my dad still teases my mum. As i'm writing this, my momma comes out of the bathroom and says to my dad, who is getting a massage on our massage chair, "why do i have so many wrinkles on my head?" My dad replies, "Come here, let me see" and when my momma bends down to show him, he bops her in the head and laughs.

My mom laughs and says, "but, really, why?"and my dad says "come here, really, i want to see." My mom bends down with caution and my dad looks at the forehead carefully for a few seconds, then he bops her in the forehead AGAIN! and he laughs. my momma laugh and slaps him really hard on the shoulder. he cries out in shock/pain/surprise. then she laughs and starts to clear the dinner table, like nothing happened and my dad goes back to his massage.

these are my parents. the people who raised me. and people wonder why i'm so silly.

happy moments like this pass without a second thought in this house. how blessed they are. because of them i have high expectations for marriage. i know it won't be sunshine and roses everyday, but every now and then i would like a bop on the head or a hug from behind, dinnertime together, and laughs, lots and lots of laughs...
